The 5OS Project 2013 Mataro
Looks like it’s holding up well in the glass, the earthy undertones that characterised the wine in its youth have given way to more sultry, complex aromas, all likeable. The mid palate is fuller than you expect, plenty of red fruits, which are showing hints of raisoning, and coffee/mocha like characters. This again is for the better as there remains this thread of tart tannin, albeit not as pronounced as the last time I tasted this a year or so back, that wraps it all up and no doubt makes it one of the more debatable wines to come from this stable. I’d drink up but no need to rush.
